About the Author - The judicial career of Justice Roshan Dalvi (Retd.) spanned over 27 years, initially as Judge of the Bombay City Civil and Sessions Court, a short stint as the Principal Judge of the Family Court, Mumbai and subsequently as Judge of the Bombay High Court. She was granted a scholarship by the British Council for the study of Gender Sensitization. She was invited by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to consider the protocol on the rights of children of sexual abuse. She is a Fellow of the Commonwealth Judicial Education Institute and a Rotary Peace Fellow. Her judgments include interpretation of commercial contracts, proprietary litigation, family litigation, the law of evidence and a wide repertoire of socio-legal subjects including the proprietary rights of Hindu women, rights of widows under testamentary laws, the constitutional validity of intestate succession of Hindu women, child rights, rights of women suffering domestic violence, cases of human trafficking, Human Rights of victims of crimes as also cases of economic offences involving bank frauds and investor frauds. She practices as Arbitrator, Mediator and Legal Consultant and conducts workshops on Gender Issues, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Case Management in the Judicial Academics and elsewhere.
