Summary: Legal Method is an introductory subject for law students prescribed by the Bar Council of India. This book has been prepared keeping in view students admitted to law schools in India. Books written by scholars of the United Kingdom, United States of America and France are compiled using the legal materials of their respective countries for their students of law. Such books seem to be of limited relevance to Indian students. This book fills that void and presents the material as per the Indian legal system. The Indian legal system has its own complexity because of its various personal laws and a variety of customs regulating the conduct of persons. Such customs have even modified the general law applicable to family matters. Therefore, keeping such diversity, an attempt is made to give a general introduction to law for the first-year students of LL B programmes. The chapter arrangement in this work has been made after scrutinising several books on legal methods. The book covers the following topics: 1. What is Jurisprudence 2. Nature of Law 3. Using a Law Library 4. Classifications of Law 5. Sources of Law 6. Concept of a Legal System 7. Common Law 8. Indian Legal System This book has been written by celebrated Professor G.V. Ajjappa, having vast academic experience and Mr Sumeet Malik, who has been teaching a course on Legal Research at various Law Schools and Colleges. This book is a must for students who start their first-year LL B programme, teachers and anyone interested in law and its methods.
