"David Caron was a scholar, an attorney and barrister, and a professor, judge and arbitrator. For each of the Editors, and most of the authors of this volume, he was also a very dear friend. For all, he was an inspiration and an example. The purpose of this volume is to celebrate him and to reflect on his work, and on the fields of law in which he laboured. Caron had a wide range of intellectual interests within the law. Environmental law and the law of the sea captured his interest and laid an early claim to his heart, particularly following his training at the Coast Guard Academy and service as a Coast Guard officer, including as a Navigation and Diving Officer on an icebreaker in the Arctic. His formative lawyering, however, was in dispute settlement, and international dispute settlement in particular. It is on this field that this volume centres"-- Provided by publisher.
