Pierre Bezukhov is the illegitimate child of a count. He is fighting for his rightful inheritance, and wants to achieve spiritual fulfillment at the same time. Prince Andrei Bolkonsky has left his family behind in order to fight in the war against Napoleon. Both Pierre and Prince Andrei have fallen for Natasha Rostov, the beautiful daughter of a nobleman. The story follows these characters from different backgrounds as they struggle to fight against Napoleon’s invasion of Russia in their own way. The problems that they face are very unlike the usual problems of their era, culture and history. As the story goes, readers will realize that these characters are among the most moving figures in the world of literature.
