| Formatted contents note | Summary: <br/>ndia, one of the largest democracies in the world, is being threatened by the monster called Corruption. Though corruption is not a few phenomenon, in the past few years it has assumed alarming proportions and is eroding the very basis of democracy. Corruption is anti-social, anti-national, anti-people and anti-democratic. The rot needs to be cleaned up in the interests of the people and the countrys future. How to stem the rot ? From where should the process begin ? Who should take the initiative ? These are some of the issues that need elaborate discussion. Tackling corruption needs a clear understanding of its nature and the reasons for its growth, the existing anti-corruption mechanism and its loopholes, institutional measures to be adopted to control corruption and finally a time bound plan of action with clear duties and responsibilities for each of the stakeholders. The book Corruption : the rot within is an earnest effort in this direction. |
