| Formatted contents note | About the Book: The Global Environment Movement: A New Hope For Mankind This book is being reprinted after 25 years dur to great demandby students, scholars and the public at large. The Planet Earth hasbeen facing environmental problems for the past four decades or so;ever since the Environment Declaration of 1972. This book was firstwritten and published in 1987. Since last 25 years the earthlyproblems have become more acute with global warming and depletionof global natural resources. Nevertheless, there is hope formankind to get over the environmental problems by moder science andtechnology, and international cooperation. The next two paragraphare reproduced as were written in 1987. These provide the summaryabout the book is general. The book is reprinted as the authors hadadequate experience of teaching and research of changing globalenvironments when the book was first conceived and written in 1987.As Prof. B.D. Nag Chaudhuri has passed away a few years, this bookpartly reminds of his great insight in environmental issues. He wasa very eminent scientist who was trained as he said by men ofscience like Satyen Bose who worked with Einstein and is rememberedthese days at CERN and world over for Boson sub - atomic particles.Dr. Nag Chaudhuri is eminently remembered as the Chairman ofNational Committee on Environment Planning and Coordination in 1975when Prof. Bhatt was appointed by him as Secretary and LegalSpecialist of above Committee. |
