Farmer collectives have witnessed resounding success in the previous decade and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) have emerged as the most preferred institutional mechanism for farmer prosperity by the policy makers and development agencies. FPOs have grown beyond providing farmers with agricultural inputs to value adding through aggregation and primary processing before sale of commodities. They also facilitate synergies with private enterprises in supply chain, open new avenues for long-term market integration and provide access to markets, finance and technology.
The State of the Sector Report: 2021is an attempt to showcase the potential of the FPOs and provide information through case studies about what has worked and what are the challenges that the sector may face in future. It also provides learnings from the past and workable solutions. With an intention to appeal to a larger audience and new collaborates, the Report aims to contribute to the development of the FPO ecosystem.
NAFPO is largely supported by Rabobank Foundation
