Summary: The TRAI Act 1997 has been enacted by the Indian parliament toprovide for the establishment of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) to regulate the telecommunication services and for matters connected therewith are incidental thereto. As per Section 11 (2) of the TRAI Act TRAI isempowered to fix/revise tariff for various telecom services provided in Indiaand service providers including the Department service provisions have toimplement the tariffs, notified by the TRAI as per provisions of law. The TRAI has been mandated to fix/revise tariff for various telecom services by virtue ofsection 11 (2) of TRAI Act. This book covers various aspects of this act indetail and elucidates the steps the Indian government has taken to tackle theincreasing incidence of cyber crime in the country.
